In an example of a great public-private partnership, the University High School Foundation and Alumni Association was able to accept a $65,000 gift from a local Tucson private foundation on behalf of University High School to underwrite the purchase of four Computers-on-Wheels (COWs). Each COW holds 30 laptops, and cost about $7K. A single COW can provide technology resources for multiple students and multiple classrooms and exponentially extend student access to the internet.
Additionally, a fifth COW was purchased from funding provided by the UHS Foundation and Alumni Association and the UHS Parent Association.
Principal Amy Cislak commented “Our teachers and staff are committed to supporting the skills necessary for our students to compete in the 4th Industrial Revolution. University High School students are already part of a consistently top ranked public high school and receive instruction from some of the best teachers in the field; now we are thrilled that our students can receive the instructional technology skills necessary to compete amongst their peers at the national and international level.”
UHSFAA is proud to be able to accommodate both the school and the donor to make this significant gift a reality.
The mission of the University High School Foundation and Alumni Association is to develop resources and partnerships to support the success of UHS students and alumni.
