Thanks to everyone who attended the Virtual Spring 2021 Penguin Mixer on April 29th! Thirty-three attendees representing UHS graduating classes ranging from 1985-2019 participated online event rather than the usual in-person happy hour at a Tucson restaurant. As with the previous mixer in October, this event was online and open to many more alumni than the usual in-person gatherings we’ve hosted in the past. And this time around, not only did we get to see some new faces, we also had international attendees, including alumni living in Australia, Cambodia, and Hong Kong!
Doraliz Vega (’98) welcomed everyone and Darin Guthrie (’95) shared updates on the UHSFAA. Emma Mendenhall (’10) manned the Zoom chat. Each attendee had the opportunity to introduce themselves and describe what they are up to; then, Emma opened the breakouts were opened and many attendees conversed for quite a while in the various “rooms”. Due to the success of this format, we plan to consider virtual gatherings even when Covid is a thing of the past…stay well, Penguins!
