The UHS Foundation and Alumni Association invite ALL PENGUINS (including current and past faculty and Special Projects alumni) to nominate a UHS alumnus or faculty for the
2025 Hall of Fame
NOMINATION PROCESS
- A maximum of twenty-five alumni/faculty will be inducted into the 2025 Alumni Hall of Fame. A maximum of fifteen will be inducted at any future Hall of Fame event.
- Any individual with a demonstrated interest in University High School may submit a nomination. An individual may nominate himself or herself for induction with three letters of recommendation from other individuals.
- All nominations must be submitted to the selection committee by the announced deadline for consideration.
- Once nominated, an individual’s nomination will remain active for the lesser of five (5) years or until the nomination has been approved for induction into the UHS Hall of Fame.
SELECTION COMMITTEE
The selection committee shall consist of two (2) board members of the University High School Foundation and Alumni Association, the current UHS principal and/or Vice-principal, and a minimum of two additional individuals who may be former staff, alumni or current staff.

FACTORS IN CONSIDERING NOMINATION FOR UHS FACULTY CANDIDATES
UHS Hall of Fame Faculty must have demonstrated leadership and a strong positive influence in the community or have demonstrated extraordinary personal success or community impact at UHS. Factors for consideration for the faculty awardees are:
- Several years of teaching excellence at UHS.
- Inspired, mentored, influenced or affected positive change for his/her peers/colleagues/students and community.
- Activity at school outside of the classroom during their career at UHS (e.g. school council, club sponsorship, coaching, etc.)
- Activity outside of the school (e.g. community, journalism, arts, music, etc.)
FACTORS IN CONSIDERING NOMINATION FOR UHS ALUMNI CANDIDATES
As indicated above, a UHS Hall of Fame Alum must have demonstrated leadership and a strong positive influence in the community or have demonstrated extraordinary personal success or community impact in their chosen profession. Factors for consideration for the alumni awardees are:
- Must be a UHS alumnus who graduated from high school at least 15 years previous to the year of the event or may be nominated in memoriam.
- Must have demonstrated excellence or outstanding achievement in an area including, but not limited to:
- Academics
- Business/entrepreneurship
- Community service
- Education
- Law/justice
- Mathematics
- Media/communications
- Medicine/health
- Music/theater/performing arts
- Science
- Social progress
- Sports/athletics
- Technology/engineering/computer science
- UHS: Generosity and effort in creating a better environment for UHS students adding to the pride and tradition of University High School
3. Inspired, mentored, influenced or affected positive change for his/her peers/colleagues/students and community.
4. Conducted oneself in such a way as to reflect honor on the school and must have exhibited those qualities of character and standards of conduct consistent with their status as a role model to the community.
INDUCTION TIMELINE and PROCESS
- The UHS Principal in conjunction with the Board of the UHS Foundation and Alumni Association shall set the date for the Hall of Fame event no later than 12 months prior to the announced date of the induction ceremony.
- Nominations must be submitted no later than six (6) months prior to the date of the induction ceremony to be considered.
- Nominations shall be reviewed by the selection committee and inductees shall be notified no later than 4 months before the date of the event.
- The inductee may suggest the individual to introduce them, and must be approved by the selection committee or the UHSFAA Board. They should be one of: the individual who nominated the inductee; a member of the UHSFAA Board; or a member of the UHS community who was significantly influenced by the inductee.
It is highly encouraged that if an approved nominee accepts their nomination, that they attend the event in person and bring family and friends to celebrate as well.
The UHSFAA Board and UHS Principal reserve the right to remove any individual from the Hall of Fame for personal or professional conduct, or for any reason which they deem to reflect discredit upon the school.
